Amber Janes

Amber comes to Show Me after successfully transitioning to a new career in the health and nutrition field. Before recently earning the Registered Dietitian designation from the University of Central Missouri & Iowa State University, Amber was the co-founder and manager of a successful small business. She brings an added layer of experience to any team of dietary clinicians having also earned the CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) designation, and a BA in Marketing from Wichita State University.
Throughout her academic and professional career Amber has been blessed with a number of opportunities to help others in the community with dietary needs and nutritional disparities. She has volunteered her time assisting with food preparations in the kitchens of the Overland Park Regional Medical Center and has also helped identify food preferences among patients in the acute-care setting using client satisfaction surveys. Amber is a trained Project Strength Leader through Harvesters of Kansas City and has taught free public nutrition courses through the Project Strength, 8-session nutrition education program on the campuses of Johnson County Community College. Amber was able to provide attendees with nutrition education, as well as the specific skill-set necessary for planning & executing healthy meals on a budget.
During her pursuit of the RD designation, Amber conducted a unique internship which provided her the opportunity to work in various settings as a clinical dietitian throughout the community. It was through this program that initially brought her to Show Me. She truly enjoys educating her patients on their specific dietary needs, and she thrives on helping them live healthier lifestyles. Amber resides in Overland Park, KS with her husband and daughter, and loves to spend time with family and her dog Whistler. In her free time, you can find her playing with her daughter, exercising, cooking a warm meal, or watching a good movie.
